Today, I mourn the death of Stephen Tyrone Johns, a guard at the US Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C, and a man I never met. Johns' murderer, whom I will not dignify by the use of his name, was a virulent hate monger who hated Jews, blacks and pretty much anyone who did not look like him and share his views. It was part of Bethany Lutheran Church's Faith and Arts series. The concert was billed as a tribute to Robert Shaw. The numbers with a large ensemble and organ were a bit muddy which would have troubled Shaw, but there were some lovely pieces.
